The programme

A planned year, taught live, recorded as hours

A season is one planned programme of courses, designed for a single group of firms and fixed before anything is booked. Your people attend. Nobody at your firm organises anything.

The shape of a season

Fixed calendar, and few enough people to ask a question

Courses in a season

13 courses

About 39 hours of verifiable CPD. A 9 course season is offered where a group wants a lighter programme.

When they run

The fall season

The calendar is built around the group's own busy periods, so courses sit away from filing deadlines rather than on top of them.

How they run

Live, online

Question time, materials, and a recording afterwards for anyone who could not attend.

Group size

500 seats

A ceiling rather than a target. Past it a course stops being a session anyone can ask a question in.

What gets taught

Five areas, weighted to what firms ask for

The balance is not fixed in advance. The group is surveyed each year, and our curriculum lead weights the season toward what firms said they need while keeping the compliance mix intact.

Public practice
The issues that come up in practice management, client work and professional standards.
Assurance
Audit and review engagements, quality management, and documentation that stands up to inspection.
Ethics
The verifiable ethics hours CPA Ontario requires every three years, scheduled so nobody is counting in May.
Tax
Personal, corporate and cross-border developments, timed to the filing year.
Technology
The tools changing practice work, and the risks that arrive with them.

Who teaches

Presenters are sourced and vetted before they are booked

Our curriculum lead knows this field and knows who teaches it well. Credentials are checked and material is reviewed before a course is scheduled. Presenters are treated as partners and most of them come back season after season, which is the part a catalogue cannot copy.

Among those who have taught on the programme:

  • Kirsten S. Albo
  • David Baker
  • Rino Bellavia
  • Stephen Chesney
  • Alex Garber
  • Diane Gaudon
  • Alex Ghani
  • John Grummett
  • Melanie Russell
  • Garth Sheriff
  • Peter Thomas
  • Amit Ummat
  • Howard Wasserman
  • Daniel Wilson

Eight things never change between consortia

What changes between consortia is the topics, the weighting and the size of the group. What does not change is the list beside this.

  • A curated schedule of live courses built for your group
  • Presenters sourced, briefed and reviewed before they teach
  • Seat-based access with simple management of who holds one
  • Question time and course materials with every course
  • Recordings for catch-up, which still count as participation
  • Attendance records for every person who holds a seat
  • Reporting for the firm, all season rather than at the end
  • Support for your people throughout the season

What the firm sees

The record builds itself while the season runs

Attendance is observed and reconciled course by course, so nobody has to collect anything. A partner can see the firm’s position at any point, and a shortfall becomes a conversation in November rather than a problem in May.

Participation is human and imperfect. If a record looks wrong it can be reviewed and corrected, because the point is evidence rather than enforcement.

Where your firm stands, at any point in the season

Illustrative firm and people. Hours are credited from attendance, not self-reported.

Ethics is tracked on its own because CPA Ontario requires 4 verifiable hours every three years and never reduces it. A total-hours view would report the last row as compliant.
